Minnesota’s Lost Mining Towns Thursday, February 21st at 6pm Minnesota’s Lost Mining Towns explores mining towns, or “locations”, across northern Minnesota that have been abandoned or have completely disappeared. For many of these locations, little is left to remember the workers, families and communities that created the foundation of the region as we know it today. To capture these foundational stories, this new documentary showcases oral histories and photographs from the era to record a history that is unique to the Iron Range. The public is welcome to enjoy a free screening before the documentary’s television premiere at the Minnesota Discovery Center on February 21, 2019. Doors open at 5:30pm, and the screening will begin at 6pm. Light refreshments will be available. The screening is free and open to the public with the generous support of the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation (IRRR) and the Minnesota Discovery Center. The documentary was produced with the support of the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. WDSE•WRPT is premiering the Minnesota’s Lost Mining Towns on Tuesday, March 5 at 7pm on PBS North (check your local listings).
